This painting is a tribute to the strength and resilience of single mothers. I used my niece to represent my mother — a woman whose daily struggles and quiet sacrifices shaped my understanding of love, endurance, and courage. The bold yellow background symbolizes hope and light that never fades, even in hard times. The red headwrap speaks of dignity and struggle — wrapped tightly yet standing tall.

Beneath her, the patterns carry stories of survival, worry, faith, and motherhood — the unspoken rhythm of a woman’s heart as she faces each day alone but never defeated. Through this work, I share the emotional weight I feel for my mother and for every single mother who continues to rise, feed, and nurture despite life’s many tests.
