About the Artist

Fatosa Abiodun is a Lagos-based Nigerian artist specializing in painting. Growing up in Ikorodu, Lagos State, he was always surrounded by the vivid hues of Nigerian culture—rich, colorful, and deeply intertwined with the rhythms of nature. From a young age, he realized that art was his voice, a language through which he could translate his inner world into something tangible. The sounds, smells, and textures of his environment didn’t just inspire him—they became part of his very essence.
He pursued a Higher National Diploma in Painting at Lagos State Polytechnic, now Lagos State University of Science and Technology, to refine this artistic voice. But even before his formal training, he knew that art was his primary form of communication. For him, it’s not just about creating visually appealing work; art is a way to listen to and tell the stories of heritage.
One of his most memorable moments was watching his brother, a traditional textile weaver, work in his small studio. The way he wove vibrant threads into intricate patterns that reflected their history left an indelible mark on Fatosa. Through his own art, he aims to carry on this legacy—not with threads, but with paint and brushstrokes that capture the colors, stories, and energy of Nigerian culture.
In a world often disconnected from its roots, he believes his art serves as a reminder. It offers a vibrant, immersive experience where viewers can not only see but also feel the essence of heritage. Each stroke and hue is an homage to the traditions and natural beauty of Nigeria, celebrating the past while creating space for a reimagined future. Through his work, he aspires to keep these stories alive in the most colorful and expressive way possible.
