This painting reflects that very spirit. Inspired by women I encountered collecting firewood in the Entoto forest during the Merha Artist Residency, the work portrays a contemplative female figure as a guardian of memory, identity, and cultural continuity. Her quiet strength symbolizes the unseen labor and resilience of women who carry both material and cultural responsibilities forward for generations.
